In 1997, Rainey left Ralph Lauren Footwear, to establish Rain E. Ltd. Her line started with scarves and pillows. Soon after, Rainey added clothing to her repertoire. In 2004, Rainey had trouble finding a unique accessory to compliment her clothing collection. Identifying a void, she decided to add jewelry to her line. Her love of collage inspires Rainey’s full line of jewelry, and this collection, RAINEY DAY NEW YORK is now her main design focus and she plans a re-launch of her unique scarf designs. RAINEY DAY NEW YORK has attracted the attention of trade and fashion media, most recently having the “must have bridal pearl necklace” in Inside Wedding magazine. Alana Kelen, stylist for VH1, says “Rainey’s pieces are so perfect for this fall season. They are a gorgeous way to wear statement jewelry, which is a must have for fall 2008. From stacks of colorful, artsy bangles to versatile necklaces that can be layered or kept classic and simple…Rainey has it all.” One of Rainey’s bangles will be featured on Tim Gunn’s Guide to Style on Bravo in October as the “it” bangle of the season. Rainey’s cuffs and bangles will transform a woman’s new look on the TLC show What Not to Wear with Stacy London. Rainey Day’s newest collection, TOTEM, leather mixed with semi-precious and precious stones, is becoming immensely popular especially since it is a non-gender specific line. TOTEM designs recently have been seen on the red carpet at the MTV Video Music Awards worn by Cisco Adler and Shwayze, of the new band Shwayze.
